After- life
For the body the be complete in the after life they needed all of their organs to be with them, but also to be properly preserved they could not be in the body, so they were placed in Canopic jars.
Each organ had its own jar and the god on the jar would protect its selected organ.
Imsety the human headed god, looked after the liver
Hapy the baboon headed god, looked after the lungs
Duamutef the jackal headed god, looked after the stomach
Qebehsenuef the falcon headed god, looked after the intestines
When the Egyptians were buried they would have their pets mummified also.
- Sometimes that would mean even living animals would have to die to be preserved and put with the deceased for the after-life.
Finally tombs were built for them to stay in and all of their belongings.
